“Pinjra” is a good serial based on parenting issues that are considered to be taboo to talk about. It’s a comparison of strictness vs. upbringing based on mutual trust. Topics like this are risky to work on because the audience mostly fails to accept the change. But hats off to the cast and production of the drama for bringing up this crucial but ignored topic of society.
Pinjra is swapping the super sensational drama serial Mere Humsafar. The acting is produced by Shazia Wajahat underneath the Showcase Production and is directed by Najaf Bilgrami. Pinjra is an honor to the late veteran writer Asma Nabeel, she mainly wrote it, but because of her death by cancer, this play was completed by the creative team. The star cast of Pinjra embraces Hadiqa Kiani, Omair Rana, Sunita Marshal, and Aashir Wajahat, along with child stars Aina Asif, Ahmed Usman, and others in crucial roles.
There is a corresponding drawn contrast between the two households and two kinds of upbringing: Khadija’s and her best friend’s (Sunita Marshall) way of handling her kids. Khadija is a passionate housewife who devoted her life to her child’s nurture. She is strict, and so is her husband, contrasting Khadija’s best friend, a single mother and an air guardian. She trusts in building a relationship of communal trust with her kids, expressing what is right and wrong, and letting them be accessible is what she believes in.
The play’s title is also somewhat symbolic of its Pinjra, a cage. From the kid Abhaan point of view, he is detained by his parents with harshness where he is not permitted to apply his skills and art freely. He is forced to fetch good grades. From the point of view of Kadija, she, too, looks caged in the cage of her responsibilities and duties. She has an excellent desire for music, but because her husband doesn’t appreciate that so she has to defeat her passion for music.
All in all, the drama serial has quite engaging content with the most talented cast. I hope to see it on the top drama list of the Pakistani drama industry.
