As Milan Fashion Week wrapped up, the Italian city showcased a striking range of Fall/Winter 2026/2027 trends, blending playful textures, daring silhouettes, and avant-garde experimentation across women’s collections.
Furry and Fantastical
Faux fur dominated the Milan runways, appearing in poofy coats, textured jackets, and bold accessories. Emporio Armani presented Easter egg-shaped coats, while Diesel’s multicoloured patchwork men’s coat featured neon highlights. Etro embraced 1970s-inspired oversized coats, and Roberto Cavalli paired silver-tipped long fur with embroidered bralettes and slouchy pants.

Prada added quirky furry tie-like decorations on sporty jackets, and Gucci’s new designer Demna experimented with horizontal faux-fur bands across the chest. Most designers showcased faux fur, with Fendi as the only brand presenting “remodelled” real furs.
Bottega Veneta stunned audiences with fibreglass coats and hats, shimmering in ivory, electric blue, and bubblegum pink. Italian brand Themoire introduced the eco-friendly “Fur Potato”, a faux shearling bag made from potato starch fibers, highlighting sustainability in high fashion.
Back-Baring Statements
Milan’s fall/winter collections featured chilly back-baring looks despite the cold season. Gucci’s sparkling backless gown on Kate Moss drew attention for its minimal fabric usage, while asymmetrical “foulard” dresses at Tod’s left backs fully exposed. Designers incorporated daring elements, including G-string details with logo accents, evoking bold throwbacks to 1990s fashion.

Skinny, Slouchy, and Everything In-Between
Pants trends were polarizing: ultra-skinny fits dominated Emporio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana, often paired with high heels or corsets, while slouchy, roomy silhouettes appeared at Moschino and Max Mara. Roberto Cavalli showcased faux Persian lamb pleated trousers, balancing luxury with comfort, and Gucci pushed boundaries with low-cut pants revealing subtle undergarments.

Frayed and “Eaten Away” Textures
Distressed and frayed fabrics were a clear theme, described by Prada as “mutations from within, visible to the exterior.” Zip-up jackets, black satin slips, and lilac sweaters appeared partially shredded or layered to reveal underlying textures. Lace remained a focal point, with Dolce & Gabbana and Fendi presenting flowing black lace that balanced exposure and elegance.
Milan Fashion Week 2026/2027 highlighted a daring combination of textures, bold silhouettes, and playful experimentation. From faux fur extravagance to frayed and back-baring designs, the trends confirmed that Italian designers are embracing both drama and sustainability in their winter collections.
