Faysal Quraishi Says Pakistani Dramas Are Competing With Global Streaming Platforms Like Netflix

Veteran Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi has praised the growing popularity and global reach of Pakistani television dramas, saying that local productions are successfully competing with international streaming platforms despite having significantly smaller budgets.

In a recent interview, Faysal highlighted the strong audience response received by Pakistani dramas and explained that their success is not only linked to production costs but also to powerful storytelling, talented performers, and emotional connection with viewers.

The actor stated that a complete Pakistani drama serial is often produced with a budget of around Rs. 20 crore, while a single episode of a high-budget Indian series released on international streaming platforms can reportedly cost between 30 to 40 crore Indian rupees.

Despite the major difference in production expenses, Faysal emphasized that Pakistani dramas continue to attract millions of viewers. He pointed out that many drama episodes regularly receive tens of millions of views on YouTube, demonstrating the strong demand for Pakistani entertainment content.

According to the actor, audience engagement proves that Pakistani television dramas have the ability to compete with major global platforms such as Netflix in terms of reach and popularity. He believes that compelling narratives and relatable characters allow Pakistani dramas to connect with audiences worldwide.

Faysal also shared his views on reports regarding restrictions on Pakistani dramas in India. He suggested that such decisions could be linked to efforts to promote domestic entertainment industries and strengthen local content rather than simply being a response to direct competition.

To explain his perspective, Faysal compared the situation with India’s previous policies regarding imported automobiles, where restrictions were used to encourage the development of local manufacturing. He suggested that similar approaches can be adopted in different industries to support domestic growth.

The actor remains one of Pakistan’s most recognized television personalities, with a career spanning more than three decades. Over the years, he has appeared in numerous successful dramas and established himself as one of the country’s leading performers.

Some of Faysal Quraishi’s most notable projects include Boota from Toba Tek Singh, Bashar Momin, Muqaddar, Fitoor, and Khaie, among many other popular television serials. His work as an actor, host, and producer has made him a prominent figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

The increasing popularity of Pakistani dramas on digital platforms reflects the changing landscape of entertainment consumption. With audiences now accessing content through YouTube and streaming services, Pakistani productions have gained opportunities to reach viewers beyond traditional television markets.

Faysal Quraishi’s comments highlight the confidence within Pakistan’s entertainment industry as local dramas continue to attract viewers internationally. With strong storytelling and growing digital audiences, Pakistani television remains a significant competitor in the evolving global entertainment market.
