Appearing on a television morning show hosted by Nida Yasir, actress and activist Faryal Gohar publicly alleged facing severe domestic violence.
Gohar claimed she suffered intense physical beatings during the marriage that caused serious injuries requiring kidney surgery.
She further alleged that repeated physical abuse contributed directly to multiple miscarriages, including the loss of twins.
The actress shared that strict social restrictions were placed on her freedom of movement throughout the duration of their relationship.
Gohar stated she was forced to wear heavy veils or travel in closed vehicles to avoid public visibility when leaving home.
Responding through a series of posts on X, actor Jamal Shah strongly refuted all allegations of physical violence.
Shah asserted that he has never engaged in physical abuse against any woman and maintained that their 1989 divorce was civil.
Addressing the miscarriages, Shah clarified that a 1985 incident occurred due to a dog bite accident rather than domestic violence.
He added that the couple lived in London during his studies from 1986 to 1988, where no further pregnancies were planned.
Shah explained he issued the public statement to protect his current wife and three children from hurtful media rumors.
The actor concluded by criticizing the television network for broadcasting damaging content and declared he would boycott the channel moving forward.
