Pakistani pop sensation Asim Azhar has returned to the spotlight — but this time, under a new identity. The singer surprised fans by reintroducing himself as “Asim Ali”, marking the beginning of what he calls his “truest and realist” musical era.
The announcement came on his 29th birthday, alongside a teaser for his first full-length solo album, titled ASIM ALI, which is set to release on November 24.
A social media reset before the big reveal
Just days before the reveal, Asim wiped his entire Instagram feed, leaving fans puzzled when he signed off with a single, cryptic Story reading “Allah Hafiz.”
Speculation quickly grew — was Asim leaving music, or planning a dramatic comeback?
The mystery was solved when he posted a heartfelt message announcing his new artistic phase:
“On my 29th birthday, I want to introduce you to someone special. Ab tak Asim Azhar ko jaante thay, ab Asim Ali se milne ki baari hai (Until now, you knew Asim Azhar, now it’s time to meet Asim Ali)… My truest & realist form. Finally yours soon.”
Moments later, he followed up with another Story simply saying “Assalam u Alaikum.”

The teaser video, now the only post on his Instagram, is filled with emotional nostalgia — featuring childhood clips, early performances, and snippets of his mother, veteran actor Gul-e-Rana, speaking lovingly about her son.
The video appears to include a tracklist of upcoming songs, intercut with vintage visuals and flashes of Asim’s journey as an artist.
But what caught everyone’s attention were a few blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments featuring Hania Aamir, Asim’s former close friend and rumored flame.
A shot from their viral 2019 fashion show performance appears under the possible track title “Lost n Found.” Another frame — showing a pair of eyes labeled “Pari” — seems to nod to Hania again.
Fans speculate on Hania connection
The teaser instantly reignited public curiosity about Asim and Hania’s long-speculated connection.
The two were close for years before parting ways after Hania clarified they were “just friends.” Asim later got engaged to actor Meerub Ali, but the two reportedly ended their engagement earlier this year.
Not long after, Hania was seen attending one of Asim’s beachside concerts — prompting online chatter about a possible reconciliation.
She later playfully addressed the rumors on Instagram, posting a picture with Asim’s track “Regardless” playing in the background, writing:
