Coke Studio Nu.WAV Launches First Track ‘Dil’ With Afusic and Zoha Waseem

Coke Studio Nu.WAV has officially begun its musical journey with the release of its first track, ‘Dil’, bringing together Afusic and Zoha Waseem in a song centered on love, distraction and emotional connection.

The track is the first of six planned releases under Coke Studio Nu.WAV, introducing a new chapter for the platform with a sound that blends intimate songwriting with a contemporary musical approach.

‘Dil’ reportedly came together in a spontaneous creative process. Producer Ali Soomro began working with his guitar, and within around 20 minutes, the initial beat had started to develop.

Later that night, the idea reached Afusic, who responded with a voice note featuring vocals recorded on his phone. By the following morning, the creative team reportedly felt that the original feeling of the recording was strong enough that it did not need major changes.

Soomro describes the creative experience as aamad, referring to the feeling of an idea arriving naturally rather than being deliberately searched for.

That spontaneous beginning became an important part of the song’s identity, allowing ‘Dil’ to retain an intimate and personal quality.

The arrival of Zoha Waseem adds another dimension to the track. Her vocals transform what initially feels like a personal expression into a musical conversation, presenting another perspective within the relationship explored through the song.

The track focuses on the emotional tension created when someone remains at the centre of a person’s thoughts despite distractions around them. Rather than relying solely on a conventional love-song narrative, ‘Dil’ explores that feeling through the interaction between its two vocalists.

Surreal Visual Story

The visual treatment for ‘Dil’ takes the song’s themes of disruption and emotional connection into a surreal setting.

Directed by Kamal Khan, the music video follows Afusic as a man attempting to find his way back home. The storyline draws loosely from the structure of classic hero’s journey narratives.

However, the world he is trying to return to is far from ordinary.

Zoha Waseem is shown living in an environment where everyday reality appears to have been turned upside down. Furniture hangs from ceilings, while familiar objects occupy unusual positions.

The unusual visual setting reflects the sense of confusion and disruption that runs through the song.

As the story develops, the separation between the two characters becomes central to the narrative. Their individual worlds appear incomplete and unsettled while they remain apart.

The visual concept reaches its turning point when the two characters finally find themselves in the same room.

At that moment, the distorted environment begins to make sense, with everything returning to its proper place. The visual metaphor connects directly with the song’s central idea of finding emotional balance through another person.

First of Six Nu.WAV Releases

‘Dil’ marks the beginning of Coke Studio Nu.WAV’s planned series of six releases.

The collaboration between Afusic and Zoha Waseem also highlights the platform’s focus on bringing different artists and creative voices together.

With its spontaneous production process, conversational vocals and surreal visual storytelling, ‘Dil’ establishes the tone for the new Nu.WAV series while giving listeners an intimate introduction to its musical direction.

The release is expected to attract attention from fans of contemporary Pakistani music, particularly those following Afusic, Zoha Waseem and Coke Studio’s evolving approach to new sounds.
