Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda has officially tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, model Lin Laishram, in a traditional Meitei ceremony. The couple exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony held in Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, India, on Wednesday.
Hooda and Laishram took to their respective Instagram accounts to share the first pictures from their wedding. In a joint post, the newlyweds captioned the five-picture gallery, “From today, we are One,” accompanied by a mini heart and infinity emoji. They also added the hashtag ‘just married’ in their post, which was met with an avalanche of likes and heartwarming wishes from their followers.
Hooda, who first met Laishram during a theatre practice, expressed his enthusiasm about embracing Laishram’s cultural traditions. “I felt that it’s only respectful to come and marry in the bride’s tradition,” he stated ahead of the wedding. “Though I have heard that in Meitei love marriages, the groom has to sit for a very long time. So, that’s something but I am looking forward to the ceremony and traditions. I want to experience my life partner’s culture. That’s why I am here.”
The ‘Highway’ actor further elaborated on his eagerness to learn about Manipuri culture. “And we have been talking about their culture, Manipuri culture and all that for a long time. I am really looking forward to it and hope that all goes well. I hope I don’t make any mistakes,” he added.
Laishram, an accomplished actor, model, and businesswoman, has appeared in prominent films like ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Rangoon’, and ‘Jaane Jan’. She also spearheads a jewelry line called ‘Shamooo Sana’.
