Lindsay Lohan Eyes Dramatic and Action Roles After ‘Freakier Friday’ Sequel

Lindsay Lohan new roles

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan is ready to reshape her screen identity. While promoting her highly anticipated film Freakier Friday, the sequel to 2003’s cult favorite Freaky Friday, Lohan opened up about what’s next in her acting journey.

The actress, who rose to fame with teen hits like Mean Girls and Just My Luck, admitted that romantic comedies feel like a familiar space. “I love doing romantic comedy because that’s where my home is,” she said. “It’s where my fans want to see me.”

However, Lohan revealed she’s eager to pursue more complex and demanding roles, particularly in drama and action genres. “I’d like to take on some things that are different. Maybe something action-packed. Just really show people a different side of me.”

In addition to her film projects, Lohan confirmed her upcoming thriller-drama series Count My Lies and another original television project with Hulu, which she described as “very exciting.”

Her pivot toward deeper and darker storytelling suggests a career evolution — one that aligns with the kind of reinvention many child stars seek as they mature in the public eye. “I’m doing a TV show with Hulu that I’m really excited about,” Lohan said, hinting that her future may lean more into long-form drama.

Freakier Friday, directed by Nisha Ganatra and written by Jordan Weiss, features Lohan reuniting with Jamie Lee Curtis as they reprise their roles as mother and daughter. The fantasy comedy is set for global release on August 8, and early buzz hints at a nostalgic yet refreshed take.
