Janice Tessa, who plays Zoya in her debut drama ‘Habs,’ has become a social media sensation after posting people’s reactions to her non-fair and non-white skin complexion and the bullying she endured as a child.
The promising new actress opened up about her struggles with racism in school and bullying in a recent interview. I wasn’t chosen to star in an ad because “they prefer a girl with a fair complexion.”
She elaborated, “Before signing the drama serial Habs I was giving auditions and suggestions from different media personalities, and during all that time some people literally told me that if you want to be in a lead character you have to be white.”
When asked about her appearance in the Habs drama, Jenice revealed that whenever she reads the comments section under episodes of the show on YouTube, people call her “Kaali” dark and forget all her ethics.
According to her, critiquing someone’s performance is fine, but insulting their appearance is rude and upsetting.
To all the children who are being bullied, she says, “Don’t listen to the people who let you down.” The ability to accept and love oneself for who they are is something everyone should learn.
Because of her stunning facial expressions, Jenice Tessa quickly became a viral sensation after she began making Tiktok videos. Recently, she starred as Zoya alongside Feroze Khan and Ushna Shah in the acclaimed drama Habs.
