Ali Zafar Defends Katrina Kaif Amid Social Media Body-Shaming

Pakistani actor and singer Ali Zafar has spoken in support of Indian actress Katrina Kaif after she faced criticism on social media over changes in her appearance following the birth of her first child.

Zafar and Kaif previously worked together in the 2011 romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, in which they appeared in leading roles.

The singer addressed the online discussion on Wednesday, September 16, urging people to reconsider the way they judge women based on their physical appearance and to avoid comparing their current looks with how they appeared years earlier.

In a video shared on social media, Zafar said he was not presenting himself as an authority on the subject but believed that people should examine their own attitudes before criticizing others.

“I am not saying this because I think I am some great authority on the matter, but because I feel that all of us need to look within ourselves,” Zafar said.

Ali Zafar Urges People to Rethink Appearance-Based Judgments

Zafar particularly called on men to reflect on how women are often judged according to expectations surrounding their bodies, lifestyles and physical appearance.

He argued that placing people under such standards is not an appropriate way to view or evaluate them.

The Teefa in Trouble star also encouraged people to remember that everyone has personal struggles that may not be visible to others.

Rather than focusing on another person’s appearance, he urged his followers to approach others with greater understanding, acceptance and positivity.

His comments came as social media users discussed Kaif’s appearance following her recent public appearances alongside her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal.

Some users compared the actress’s current appearance with images from before her pregnancy, with online comments focusing on her body and weight.

Zafar Acknowledges His Own Past Mistakes

During his message, Zafar also acknowledged that he had previously made comments about other people based on their appearance.

The singer said he was not proud of that behavior, using his own experience to encourage others to think about how they speak about people.

His comments therefore focused not only on the criticism faced by Kaif but also on the broader issue of judging people based on physical appearance.

Zafar emphasized that people should look at their own behavior instead of making unnecessary judgments about someone else’s personal life.

‘Let Her Live It’

Zafar concluded his message by asking people to respect Kaif’s personal life and allow her to live without unnecessary scrutiny over her appearance.

“It is her life. Let her live it. What does it matter to you? Live your own life. It is a short life—be happy,” he said.

Kaif and Kaushal welcomed their first child in 2025. Since then, the actress has gradually resumed public appearances and professional commitments.

The discussion surrounding her appearance has once again highlighted the intense scrutiny celebrities can face after major personal milestones.

Zafar’s remarks have added a voice from across the Pakistan-India entertainment industry to the conversation, particularly given his previous professional association with Kaif.

His message ultimately called for greater restraint when discussing celebrities’ bodies and appearances, while encouraging people to focus more on their own lives rather than judging others.
