Saif Ali Khan has opened up about the intense action sequences he filmed for his upcoming movie Haiwaan, revealing that some of the scenes were performed without body doubles and with very limited use of visual effects.
The actor described one particularly demanding sequence in which his character is beaten and tortured before eventually fighting back.
According to Saif, the scene was designed to build tension before his character retaliates against those attacking him.
“It’s a scene with a great build-up because the characters torture and bash up my character,” Saif said while discussing the sequence.
He explained that the fight was choreographed by Silva and was filmed without duplicates or significant visual effects.
Saif said the scene was deliberately made to feel raw, with the set featuring broken glass across the room.
The actor described the shoot as extremely exhausting, revealing that he needed to rest for two days afterward.
“There’s very little fakery in these scenes,” Saif explained, adding that the sequence involved a physically demanding environment with broken glass and intense combat.
Saif Ali Khan Had Limited Preparation
Despite the physical demands of the sequence, Saif revealed that he did not receive extensive training before filming the scene.
The actor said he had requested training ahead of the shoot, but the planned preparation did not take place.
Instead, Saif rehearsed some of the fight movements with choreographer Silva before cameras started rolling.
“There wasn’t much prep before the scene,” the actor recalled, explaining that the creative intention was to keep the action as raw as possible.
The decision to limit the use of visual effects appears to have contributed to the physical demands of the shoot.
Saif also revealed that pieces of broken glass remained on the set after filming the sequence.
Although the actor avoided serious injuries, he said that minor cuts and bruises were part of the demanding shoot.
“Luckily not too many injuries, but there are always some cuts and bruises,” Saif said.
Saif and Akshay Kumar Reunite
Haiwaan marks Saif Ali Khan’s first collaboration with director Priyadarshan.
The film also brings Saif together with Akshay Kumar after an 18-year gap, making their reunion one of the notable aspects of the project.
Boman Irani, Sayani Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar are also part of the cast in important roles.
With its combination of intense action and a major Bollywood cast, Haiwaan has generated attention ahead of its theatrical release.
The film had been scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11, with Saif’s comments offering audiences a glimpse into the demanding physical work involved in creating its action sequences.
