Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and one of the richest individuals in the world, is celebrating his wedding to former journalist and media personality Lauren Sánchez in unparalleled style. The couple has chosen the romantic city of Venice, Italy, for a three-day extravaganza that’s drawing global attention.
A Multi-Million Dollar Celebration
According to officials from the Veneto regional government, the event is estimated to cost between €40 million and €48 million—roughly $46.5 to $55.6 million. While the couple has kept most details under wraps, local authorities have confirmed the scale and impact of the event on Venice.
As part of the celebration, Bezos is reported to be making substantial philanthropic contributions, including a €1 million donation to Corila, a scientific consortium focused on preserving the Venice lagoon.
The Historic Venue: Venice’s Arsenale
Though the wedding ceremony’s exact time and location remain confidential, sources indicate that the main celebration will take place on Saturday at the Arsenale, a historic shipyard complex. Once the heart of the Venetian navy, the Arsenale is now a symbol of Venice’s cultural legacy and an architectural marvel.
Star-Studded Guest List Arrives by Air and Sea
Around 90 private jets are expected to touch down at airports in Venice, Treviso, and Verona during the festivities. High-profile guests such as Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have already arrived in the city, traveling from Tuscany.
Additionally, the event organizers have secured over 30 water taxis, a primary mode of transport in Venice, to ferry the VIP guests between their accommodations and various venues.
Five Luxury Hotels Reserved
To host the approximately 200 to 250 guests, the couple has reportedly booked out five of Venice’s most prestigious hotels. Among them are the Cipriani on the island of Giudecca and the Aman Venice, where George and Amal Clooney famously celebrated their own wedding.
While Bezos and Sánchez have not released public statements about the wedding, its scale has already drawn comparisons to royal nuptials and A-list Hollywood affairs.
